This morning, I sat down to write a newsletter, and I wrote one breathlessly. It flowed so easily. It was perfect, but alas, it was perfect for next week.
So all day I’ve put off writing a newsletter to you, and now we’re here. It’s 8:30 p.m. and I’m feeling sleepy. The past few weeks are catching up to me, and I have a fraction of the energy I had at this time last year. I don’t have a lot of words to give.
Instead of writing something verbose or trying to force it, I’m going to try to lean into what I’m feeling here. I am feeling tired, but I want to write my newsletter because I love my newsletter. I’m going to show up anyway and write what I know.
And today I know I need to take a page out of Marlee Grace’s book (literally) and revisit my list of things to return to.
For me that is:
water
morning pages
walking
4+ hours of no phone time
reading memoirs
stretching
tidying
doing absolutely nothing
listening to something I love on audiobook
a bath + a CBD bath bomb
If you’re feeling like I am—a little burnt out and a lot tired—I hope tonight and tomorrow you’re able to take some time to return to yourself too, and if you’d like to send me your list, I’d love to read it. Until then, see you next Thursday.
Reading:Â All About Love: New Visions by bell hooks.
Writing:Â Not a lot this week. Hoping to build it back up.
Listening:Â Mommy Doomsday by Dateline.
Watching: The Golden One by Whitmer Thomas on HBO Max. Do yourself a favor and watch this ASAP if you haven’t already. It’s brilliant, earnest, and hilarious.
Buying: We’re doing a March spending freeze!Â
Focusing on:Â Being adaptable, making myself as comfortable as possible, and not rushing through my feelings.
P.S. I got my first dose of the vaccine two days ago, and I wore a bright yellow jumpsuit for the occasion. So many feelings.
