I've spent most of my professional career thus far as a photographer. When I moved to Tennessee, I got a job at a small design agency and took a step back from being self employed for the first time ever.
I still take on photo projects, but they are generally fewer, a bit larger scale than before, and often less personal than they once were.
In truth, I was burnt out in 2021 from making photos as my livelihood and was ready for a break. The rest from it as my day to day job has been really wonderful, but over the past year I've been reengaging with the art form.
With my step back from social media, and into investing into this newsletter, I've been exploring ways to share more photos.
Postcards is a series I'd like to begin that’s meant for just that very thing-- to sharing images I've made using various different mediums of image making.
The first is a series of ten photos I made on a weekend trip to Atlanta last November using my iPhone and an app called Nomocam that operates as a film emulator and manipulates the software in a phone’s camera to make a clearer, crisper image. It's $25.99 a year, but I made these using the free trial and haven't decided yet if I'm going to purchase the app.
I was visiting Atlanta to watch my best friends open up for one of our mutual favorite bands My Morning Jacket — it was a very big deal and we had a remarkable time.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me that you’d continue to extend the invite into your internet living room. The newsletter means a lot to me and I am consistently thrilled to learn that it means something to other people.
